School fashion is more than just dressing up. We want to know what it really means to students. We spoke with students about their fashion values. We wanted to know if they enjoy dressing up for school, how they stay stylish during cold weather, and how important fashion is to their confidence and self expression. Through interviews, we discovered that school fashion is about much more than just clothing. TCA Heights reporters Serenity Sanchez and Kyeanna Gordon interviewed a 12th grade student named Samiya Williams.
TCA Heights: What are you wearing at the moment?
Williams: I am wearing this cute blue school girl shirt from shein. I’m wearing these jeans from H&M, and I’m wearing my ugg boots.
TCA Heights: How are you staying warm and fashionable in this weather?
Williams: I’m wearing layers I have leggings under my jeans, I have my boots on very cute and comfy and i also wore my sweater but its not on because it does not go with the fit.
TCA Heights: Who are your style inspirations and if you have one, why?
Williams: Myself! And maybe pinterest a little bit just because I don’t really know my sense of fashion yet so as I go through clothes I just see something I think I would like and be like yeah that’s cute.
TCA Heights: Is it important to dress up everyday or does it not matter to you?
Williams: Before I would say it doesn’t really matter. Now I feel like its important to dress up everyday because you never know what opportunities you’re gonna have once you walk out the door. But also its not like don’t put too much focus on how you dress.”
The College Academy has a dress code but most people choose their own fashion to compliment their mood and personality. Check out our gallery to see more examples of fashion expression at TCA!
