Track is a sport made possible for all. Everybody has run at least once in their life because running is something that comes with you when you’re born. Some are really gifted and some are not so gifted but you can always improve so don’t be afraid of being judged. There’s many diversities in the track field and you’re always meeting new people. Being a part of a track team is pretty much being a part of a big family.
At George Washington we have a brand new track team which competes with the best of the best track stars. George Washington gives the opportunity to figure out who you are, what type of runner you are, paid meets and free swag (tracksuits) just the basic essentials you would want for a track team.

Here are some of the events you are able to do during indoor track in TCA:
400(m): a whole lap in an outdoor compared to an indoor track taking endurance and agility
200(m): a half sprint combining with a single curve in outdoor and double on indoor
100(m): An all out sprint to the finish line one straight away and you
55(m): Indoor track event needing fast reaction time and acceleration
4×100(m) Relay : Team event between 4 of your teammates each of you have to run 100 meter passing batons right before you reach the mark in total this is 400 meters split
4×200(m) Relay : Team even between the 4 of your teammates each person runs a 200m half an outdoor track field in total 800 is being ran
Shot Put: individual even not running but using brute force to throw a heavy ball as far as you can
Long jump: Long jump individual event jump before the mark and into the sand as far as your able to
Triple jump: be able to complete three different jumps while hitting the mark without passing it seeing how far those 3 jumps take you 2 on one leg and 1 jump on the other

Track is not only good for your health and increasing cardio but also making new friends and socializing while also learning how to have a disciplined mindset. If you ever feel like it’s too late to join indoor track, Outdoor track door is starting soon with practice for outdoor track starting in late February. You can go to Charlito Chumney down in the basement to ask to sign up and try out.
