Baseball is played between two teams. One team bats and the other fields. The pitcher throws the ball, and the batter tries to hit it and run around the bases. The fielders try to catch the ball and get the runner out. The goal is to score runs by running all the bases. The team that scores the most runs wins. It’s a fun sport that encourages teamwork and coordination. Playing baseball has made my experience in high school more enjoyable. I want to share how I got on the baseball team.

Steps:
- Exercise and get into shape. Some exercises I like to do are about working the body on different days and with different exercises.
- Eat a healthy diet. I like to eat Dominican food like rice, beanss , and meat, served in salad and juice because that food contains protein and carbohydrates.
- You need discipline to be consistent. Playing a sport will take up your time so be sure to schedule time to do homework and rest too.
- Maintain good grades in order to be able to play baseball. If your teachers offer extra tutoring, be sure to go! I am a student-athlete which means I need to balance these two things.
- If you would like to join the team look for informational posters in the hallways or talk to Coach Carbone to learn more.
Benefits:
- Playing baseball has helped me to be healthy and strong.
- Baseball helps develop strength, speed, coordination, and endurance.
- You learn to work as a team, communicate, and resolve conflicts.
- Participating on a team requires organization, punctuality, and commitment.
Baseball has helped me prepare for the future because it has taught me teamwork, discipline and perseverance. These skills will help me succeed in school, work, and life. GWEC baseball coach Mr. Carbone’s advice: “Remember that effort and attitude are just as important as talent. Always give your best, support your teammates, and learn from every experience, both in victories and defeats.
