In need of a new device? Help is on the way! All TCA students can get a new Chromebook to use at home. If you have an old

device you can bring it to room 210 before school, during lunch, or after school and get a new one. A lot of old devices are worn out and TCA is looking to replace them. In order to get these new devices students need two documents from their second period teacher, a pink letter and a white form. The pink letter explains how the program works. And the white should be completed by a family member at home and given back to your second period teacher or the main office.
To learn more about this opportunity, TCA Heights journalist Frandy Munoz spoke with assistant principal, Mr. George.
TCA Heights: How did the school get these new devices?
Mr. George: So as a part of [an effort] from the mayor’s office, they’re providing 350,000 devices, Chromebooks to K through 12 schools. Our school got 379 and these devices are for students to take home. These aren’t we’re not putting them in computer carts. So basically, it’s kind of something to address what they call the digital divide, equity and access to computing
TCA Heights: How can students get access to these devices?
Mr. George: So we started a process in their period two class, we gave out pink and white forms. The most important one is the white one. It’s the paper that their parents sign. And they sign, they bring it back saying, I understand, I’m getting a new computer, and I have to treat it in a certain way, so they give that to us. And we just have to make sure that if you have an old computer, you bring that one back in, you have your signed white paper, and we give you the new one. We have them in the room ready to go as soon as you bring in the paper. And if you have a device return, that’s it. Every single student should take advantage of this opportunity.
TCA Heights: Anything else to add?
Mr. George: I’m really encouraging every single student, whether you have a computer already, bring in, get a brand new one with a touch screen. It’ll be faster and newer. Or if you have a computer at home that belongs to your family, you should use the school one. The city is saying, here’s an opportunity, here’s a resource, take advantage of it!
