Senior year is exciting, but it can also be stressful. It is your last year of high school, so many things are important. With only a few months left to go, here is some timely advice for my fellow twelfth graders:
- One thing to worry about is passing your classes. You need to pass all your classes to graduate! If you miss work or skip school, it can cause problems, so you must stay focused. Set your alarm clock so you wake up on time each day.
- Another thing is to know your future plans. Many seniors think about college, work, or trade school. Applications and deadlines can be stressful, so it helps to plan early and ask teachers or counselors for help. Speak with a trusted teacher or with Ms. Hurtado, Ms. Aponte or Vlainer in the college office to make your future plans.
- Time management is also important. Senior year can get busy with school, work, and activities. If you wait until the last minute, you can feel stressed. Doing work on time helps a lot. Use your TCA planner to keep up with deadlines. You can set notifications on your phone calendar too.
- You should also worry about stress and mental health. Senior year pressure can feel heavy. Talking to friends, family, or teachers and taking breaks can help you feel better. For example you can go talk to Ms Aponte or any teacher you feel comfortable with.
- Lastly, it is important to make good choices. Bad decisions can affect graduation and your future. Staying responsible helps you finish the year strong. For example staying after school to get work done and being punctual everyday.
Senior year is your last step before the future. Stay focused, take care of yourself, and enjoy the moment.
