Teachers vs. Students: A Rivalry is Born

Mr. Averill

Both sides came together for a group photo!

Last Wednesday during 8th period saw the emergence of a heated new volleyball rivalry at The College Academy with the teacher team taking on a series of student teams.  The teacher team, which consisted of Ms. Duval, Mr. Bryar, Mr. Batista, Mr. Sala, Mr. Flores, Ms. Escona, Mr. Otero, Mr. Sigerson and Ms. Ross, held strong and remained victorious during the first two rounds winning 11-5 and 10-4.  The student tipped the scales back during the third round rallying to tie twice and ultimately winning the game 9-8.  The victory was led by junior Madiou Ndong whose winning spike won the game for his team.  When asked about what lead to his winning spike Ndong stated “Instincts.  I just went up at the right time.  I feel great right now!”  The fourth round saw a clearly tired teacher squad fall to a fresher team of students 8-6.  A major factor in the student squad’s victories was the boisterous gallery of student supporters cheering from the balcony.  Even with the split 2-2 series outcome this rivalry remains and the school community is looking forward to the next teacher-student match up.
