Let’s Make More Space for New Americans

What’s the state of the American Dream?

Although people think the idea of the American Dream is the same for everyone, unfortunately, there are real economic and social obstacles for immigrant people. Unfortunately, the American Dream is a frustrating dream for way too many immigrants today, because the promise of opportunity for all is less of a promise and more of a gamble. The dream is always a hope, but the path to it is hard to attain a simple life through restless efforts.   In order to achieve equity for all, I recommend helping immigrant people  with a community center to help newly arrived Americans get the help they need to get on their feet and start to work.  This could help close the gap between the newly arrived and those who have more established privilege than others.

According to the text “Why the American Dream is More Attainable in Some Cities than Others” by Greg Rosalsky,”Jon Feinman, the founder and CEO of the nonprofit gym . More importantly, Feinman says, their program creates bridges between people from different walks of life and forges lasting friendships between many participants. “The people in our program gain access to new networks and opportunities, while our clients gain new insights and perspectives into complex social challenges.”. This shows that it helps people to meet each other and help to get on their feet. If we do this to all immigrants it will make the American Dream more of a reality.  This shows that during this time, many people believed that if you worked hard enough, you could achieve success.  This means that while hard work was seen as a path to success for some, it was not available to everyone. I could relate to this because the American Dream is hard to achieve but you have to work to achieve it. In my experience working hard is always something that we have to do in our daily lives but immigrants.  In my experience there is a community center in the Bronx led by a Yemeni man named Mohamed Ahmed.  Ahmed’s organization gives newly arrived people an opportunity to establish themselves until they make money and a place to stay.  This organization helps people to find jobs and even provides them with food. This man gives people a hope of the American Dream to believe that they could find a place to stay and live in peace. He shows them the way around and teaches them a little simple thing to work to make a living for his family. We need more like this man to help the people with difficulty and show them to live the right way so they could make a better life.

If we want to keep the American dream alive, we must take action by supporting and protecting immigrants. This means creating a place  where happiness and safety are possible for everyone. With our shared efforts we can make the American Dream accessible for all Americans. In order to help immigrants around the world we must make them feel welcome.
