Breakfast is the first meal of the day and making a good choice for breakfast is an important step to start your day off right. Breakfast doesn’t have to be boring! There are many good choices to keep you satisfied. In addition to the healthy selections available in the front of our school, here are some other healthy breakfast ideas.
Oatmeal
You buy oatmeal in the supermarket. How you make oatmeal is you boil your milk then you put the oatmeal in for a few minutes. You can add fruit and nuts if you want. I like a little cinnamon in my oatmeal.
Fruits
You buy your fruits in the supermarket or at the fruit stand on the street. Here is a list of healthy fruits you can eat for breakfast.
- Apple
- Mango
- Cherry
- Bananas
Yogurt
You can buy yogurt in the supermarket or you can make it at home! Be sure to avoid yogurt with sugar added. Greek style yogurt is a good source of protein.
How to make yogurt 1/2 gallon (1.8 liters) milk (see note)
2 tablespoons (30ml) yogurt with active live cultures (see note)
Eggs and Toast
You could buy the eggs and bread in the supermarket. There are a lot ways to make eggs. Here are my favorites.
Scrambled eggs- heat a pan and add a little oil or butter. Add the mixed up eggs and a little salt and pepper. Mix the eggs around and enjoy!
“Over easy” eggs- heat the pan and add a little oil or butter. Crack the egg into the pan. (Make sure there are no shells in the egg!). Wait about 1 minute and then carefully flip the egg. Cook for one or two more minutes and you have an over easy egg!
