Artist Spotlight: Notorious B.I.G.
In this series I am going to talk about hip hop music, the contribution it makes to our community and its impact. Many artists used hip hop to speak out against injustices, racial discrimination, police brutality and poverty. Artists painted a raw picture of life in many cities, addressing gang violence, drugs and police harassment. Artists shared their own personal experiences of hardship. Hip hop was a powerful tool for self-expression. For example, Christopher Wallace, better known by THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G grew up in a tough neighborhood, which influenced much of his music. He attended high school but eventually dropped out, turning to street life where he sold drugs and honed his skills as a rapper. Despite these struggles, it was his encounter with P. Diddy marked a turning point in his life, opening the door to a career in music that would soon make him a global star.
Spotlight: THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G
Biggie’s debut album, ready to Die (1994), included hit singles like “Juicy”, “Big Poppa”, and “Gimme the Loot”, which was Biggie’s talent that narrated street life experiences. His second album Life After Death was released and it achieved multim status, featuring hits like “Hypnotize” and “Mo Money Mo Problem. The Notorious B.I.G. ‘s influence on rap endures throughout his groundbreaking music career, storytelling, and lasting contributions to hip-hop culture. Biggie is one of the most popular rappers of all time, he remains deeply respected leaving an indelible mark on the broader music industry.
