On June 18, 2024, The George Washington Educational Campus was proud to announce the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the brand new campus athletic field. This event caps a long seven months that the new field has been under construction and the eagerness of athletes wanting to play. Many athletes appreciate the hard work, dedication, and support they have received across The High School for Law and Public Service, the High School for Health and Careers, The College Academy, and The High School for Media and Communications. During the grand opening, we were pleased to have our city council member Carmen De La Rosa (District 10), Ms. Jodie Fuerguson (GWEC campus athletic director), Robert Jackson (NY State Senator), Kevin Moran (Athletic Operator), Mr. Ramirez (District 6 Superintendent), and Manny De Los Santos (NY State Assembly Member) who have collaborated in this project for the student-athletes and worked consistently to make the students and coaches dream come true.
Before we kick it off with showing a glimpse of the new George Washington field here is a before picture.
Now Drumroll Please!
Here are some photos that were kindly taken and shared by a variety of student-athletes who were kind enough to contribute to this amazing news.
Tca Heights: Let’s look further at our peers and their emotions on this grand opening!
Tca Heights: As we can see not only will this new field bring joy and winnings this upcoming season. But, it will motivate student-athletes to participate in various sports, whether Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Track, or Football. We now have it all at the George Washington Educational Campus! On behalf of every student across the campus, thank you again for the support and gift we received from our principals, state senators, city council members, athletic directors, construction team, and most importantly facility staff members. Our student-athletes and coaches look forward to making it to playoffs or championships this year.
