I recently interviewed several students from different places, who are currently students at TCA. I wanted to hear their own opinions and experiences when studying in the United States and the country they come from. To understand, I interviewed student Reyni Almanzar (Grade 11), who spent several of his years earning an education in the Dominican Republic and in the United States. This led me to interview him because I wanted to understand his experience when earning an education in the Dominican Republic and in the United States.
Where did you study?
” I studied in a school in the Dominican Republic called El Ave Maria.”
How many years did you spend studying in the Ave Maria?
” I lasted almost my whole entire life until I turned fourteen.”
How many years you have studying in the United States?
” I have 2 years and a half.”
Was it a public school and was it a primary or secondary school?
” It was a public school, it was from all levels. There were students that were able to start kindergarten until their last year of high school”
How was your experience in your school in the Dominican Republic?
” It was really good, honestly everyone there has extremely fun and I enjoyed it.”
What were the resources they gave you for you to learn your subject materials daily?
” They basically were able to give students bookbags from time to time, uniforms, and books.”
How would you compare your educational experience in El Ave Maria to the United States?
“I would compare it like in Dominican Republic is more limited, because you have to wear uniform and sometimes you have to buy the uniforms. As well as that can help you but sometimes you have to keep in mind that there’s people that can have their own like and dress however they like and that for me is very important because that’s what I like here in the U.S where you have more liberty.”
How do you feel about studying at The College Academy?
” I feel very well studying at TCA teachers give good teachings, but in reality, I like being in the Dominican Republic”
