I recently interviewed several students from different places, who are currently students at TCA. I wanted to hear their own opinions and experiences when studying in the United States and the country they come from. To understand, I interviewed student Nefetari Gomez (Grade 11), who spent several of her years earning an education in the country of Mexico and in the United States but is originally from Venezuela. This led me to interview her because I wanted to understand her experience when earning an education in Mexico and in the United States.
Where did you study?
” I studied in Mexico I stayed three years studying over there.”
Do you remember the school you studied in?
” Si Epo 243.”
Was the school Epo 243 a public high school or a private high school?
” It was a public high school.”
How was your experience studying in the Epo 243?
” It was really good I had a good relationship with my teachers and my classmates. In reality, I had a good relationship with everyone.”
How many years do you have studying in the United States?
” I nearly have at least one year.”
How is it going for you in TCA in your first year?
” Really good I have had some certain difficulties with the language for certain reasons, but slowly I am able to make progress.”
What was the resources they provided you with to learn more about each subject material?
” They gave me a variety of subjects in those subjects sometimes we dedicated around two hours depending on our schedule. We did not have an exact schedule, like they do here that every day is the same. But, where I studied it was really different because we had every day a different subject. They would provide us with books, but in reality, they gave good resources.”
How would you compare the education system in Mexico and in the United States?
” Here it is a little more strict than my school in Mexico because here they require you to take exams and they mandate well not mandate but is something that is obligated for example: the language, school. In reality, everything is different than Mexico compared to here in the United States.”
