Rocky is a 1976 American sports drama film starring Sylvester Stallone. I started watching this franchise in mid-2020, since I found it somewhat annoying to watch types of films from previous decades. Rocky entered development in March 1975, after Stallone wrote the script in three days. Rocky is an exciting movie and the general story of the character and what he was to be able to achieve in this film would amaze anyone.
In the film, Rocky Balboa, a poor small-time club boxer and loan shark debt collector from Philadelphia, has an unlikely chance to win the world heavyweight championship from Apollo Creed.
What caught my attention the most about the film is the problem of the actor Sylvester Stallone at that time, since he was in a sad stage of his life. Prior to the release of Rocky where poverty marked his life and a point in which was seen. He forced him to sell his dog because he couldn’t feed it.
Stallone decided to write his own movie, so he was impressed because he finished it in 3 days and many producers wanted to hire him. The success of his movie, not to mention him getting his dog back, and the message he left behind help him in the things he does in his life and how he can improve them.
This Rocky franchise popularized the rags-to-riches and American dream themes of the sports dramas that preceded the film. Inspiration to move forward with a motivational goal and seek the future that is meant to be. Of the entire franchise, the film that I liked the most was the one from 2006, when Rocky is retired but longs to recover a little of his glory days, fighting for the destiny that awaits him with few opportunities, but without giving up.
The message of this film franchise is a reminder for all the people who are going to try to be someone in life, because no matter how much they want their goal, they will not give up in the face of simple setbacks and will continue to move forward and endure what life gives them.
