Concern about the choice of work, sport and study

The goal of school sport is the enrichment of students’ school experiences in the context of the schools’ educational mission. As such, school sports should be educational and contribute to the overall education of all students, not just athletes. Other goals of school sports follow logically from the educational mission: citizenship, sportsmanship, fair play, teamwork, respect, and the health and well-being of all students not only during the school years but into adulthood.

Today in New York City at the George Washington Educational Campus at 3:01 a.m. m. from 02/11/2023. I am a third year student at The College Academy and I am working on a class project that deals with how sports affects the common activity of a student in general, in the school environment. To more easily solve the project that was recommended to me, I decided to interview the people who have the most knowledge and experience on this topic, such as coaches or students with these characteristics.I am ready to conduct planned interviews with three people, Cardenas, Jayleen and Flores. I chose these three because each has an experiential understanding of how school sports can affect students’ daily lives, such as what influences whether they have to finish work or school. It can be a problem to organize everything and achieve your goal.

Jovani Cardenas Tapia

Science teacher at the college academy, since 2019, he chose this profession because he likes teaching science subjects and he likes to dismantle information in an understandable way.

How do sports affect a student’s mindset by having so many things on their mind to worry about?

Jayleen Torres

A junior student at the university academy, athlete, artist and writer, for 3 years, she does all those things because it is a form of motivation and a way to become independent to prepare for university and the life that awaits her.

How can students balance sport, work or study in their daily lives?

Amaruris Flores

Physical education teacher at The College Academy, since 2016, he chose this profession because he was very athletic when he was young and thought that somehow he was going to become a professional athlete but since he couldn’t be a professional athlete he dedicated himself to teaching people and teach kids to be professionals, even if that means giving them an athletic scholarship to college.

Mr. Flores believes sports coaches should be more understanding of students who have jobs to support their families knowing they may miss their practices

In short, according to those interviewed, you must have a rigid discipline to be able to concentrate on everything that needs to be done in a healthy way for the body and mind. And a key balance in this issue, giving a little more attention to your studies since these are what define whether you can continue assuming your other commitments. And that coaches must take into account that students who have a job or some study must be able to help their family or themselves financially in order to become independent. That is why we must be able to coordinate the activities we do every day, to ensure that what they can learn from this they use in their future.
